  • While going for the ball Troy Reh of Chaos slashes Zach Currier in a very sensitive place that results in a 1 minute man up situation for the Waterdogs with 7:16 left in the half, but Chaos kill it off.
  • After serving the penalty Toy Reh shoots from the 2 point arc and gets a goal for the Chaos. His foot was just on the line so it is only a 1 point goal for the long pole and the score is tied at 3 with 5:34 left in the 2nd quarter.
  • Chaos get a goal from Bradley Voight assisted by Ryan Smith with 1:37 left in the 2nd quarter to put the Chaos up by a score of 4-3 on a play that involved a nice passing play around the crease before the finish.

  • Chaos work the ball all around the offensive end of the field until Kyle Jackson feeds it to Brian Minicus to tie the game up at 7 with 2:09 left in the 4th quarter.
  • Blaze Riorden makes a big save with about 30 seconds left in the quarter to keep the Chaos alive in the games.
  • We head to the first overtime of the 2023 PLL season as the game is tied after the 4th quarter.
  • The overtime rules in the PLL are it is a 12 minute sudden victory, meaning that the first goal wins the game. Teams are not allowed to call timeouts during the overtime and if it is still tied after the 12 minutes the game will then end in a tie.
  • In Overtime Connor Kelly slips in the offensive end but maintains possession of the ball and slips in between 3 Chaos defenders to get a low shot off with 9:20 left in OT that Riorden seems to get a piece of but the ball goes into the net and the Waterdogs with the game by a score of 8-7.
  • The rematch of last year’s PLL Championship lived up to the hype but the Waterdogs took advantage of the shorthanded Chaos. The next time they play this season should be a good match up as well.

GAME 4: WHIPSNAKES VS CHROME

This is a match up of the 2019 and 2020 PLL Champion Whipsnakes and the 2023 Championship Series Champions Chrome. The Championship Series was a sixes tournament that took place February 22-26 and it involved the top 4 teams from last season’s standings.

  • The game starts and 59 seconds into the game Michael Manley of the Chrome starts the scoring. Michael Manley got a rare long pole goal with an assist from Will Haus to make it 1-0 Chrome.
  • Jesse Bernhardt of the Chrome then blocks a shot with his back that looked like hurt really bad but to his credit, Jesse never leaves the game and toughs it out. The ref even checked on him after a change of possession but he waived everyone off to keep playing.
  • These new Whipsnakes jerseys are terrible and watching the game on TV it is really hard to even read the numbers on their backs. I can only imagine what it is like to see them in person at the game.
  • Justin Anderson of the Chrome recieves a pass from Logan Wisnauskas and buries it to make it a 2-0 Chrome lead with 6:11 left in the first quarter.
  • The Whipsnakes get a response from Tucker Dordevic who scores with 5:22 left in the quarter to make it s 2-1 lead for the Chrome. This was Tucker’s first professional goal.
  • Whipsnakes player Mike Chanenchuck while playing at X behind the net finds new teammate Will Manny in front of the net and he ties the game up with 4:58 left in the quarter.
  • Sam Handley of the Chrome fights off the Whipsnake defenders to rip a shot from just inside the 2 point arc and makes it 3-2 Chrome with 3:35 left in the 1st quarter. That was Sam’s first professional goal.
  • With 2:40 left in the quarter Garret Leadmon finds Mike Chanenchuk who takes a step in from the 2 point arc and lets a bomb go that Chrome Goalie Sean Sconone gets a piece of but not enough as it goes in and ties the game at 3.
  • Whipsnakes long stick midfielder Colin Squires finds Connor Kirst who goes in and scores with 2:23 left in the quarter to give the Whipsnakes their first lead at 4-3.
  • The leads is short lived though as Chrome defender Nick Grill finds Ryan Terefenko who goes between the Whipsnakes defence and scores the tying goal with 1:56 left in the 1st quarter.
  • Chrome’s Jackson Morrill makes a pass form the X position to Justin Anderson in front of the net and he scores to make it 5-4 Chrome with 1.9 seconds left.
  • The Whipsnakes challenged this call as a Chrome player appears to be in the crease. The referee Matt Palumb determines that the Whipsnakes pushed the Chrome player into the crease so the call on the field stands and it is a good goal.
  • The score is 5-4 Chrome after the first quarter.
  • The Chrome start the second quarter by Ryan Terefenko getting a 30 second penalty for offside just 58 seconds into the quarter.
  • The Whipsnakes try but are unable to get a goal while being man up.
  • Matt Rambo, great name, of the Whipsnakes finds Mike Chanenchuk who scores on a outside shot. The pass from Rambo was awesome and the result makes it a 5-5 tie game with 10:15 left in the quarter.
  • Eli Salama of the Chrome creates a turn over which he picks up, runs down the field, finds Cross Ferrera who then finds Logan Wisnauskas and he scores to make it 6-5 for the Chrome with 3:28 left in the 2nd quarter.

  • Mike Chanenchuk finds Will Manny who scores for the Whipsnakes with a quick release shot to make it 7-6 Chrome with 1:19 left in the quarter.
  • The Chrome do a good job of keeping the ball in the Whipsnakes end and do a ball cycle that results in Cross Ferrera finding Jackson Morrill who makes it 8-6 Chrome with only 58.9 seconds left in the quarter.
  • The Chrome manage to hold onto the 8-6 lead heading into halftime.
  • The Chrome cycle the ball around well to start the 3rd quarter including when with 10:23 left in the quarter Whipsnakes goalie Kyle Bernlohr is forced to make an amazing save on a pretty much open net for the Chrome to keep the score at 8-6.
  • Jackson Morrill of the Chrome finds Cross Ferrera who takes a big check but gets the shot off and scores his first professional lacrosse goal and makes it 9-6 Chrome with 8:18 left in the quarter.
  • Sam Handley of the Chrome feeds the ball to Justin Anderson who shovels the ball into the net and increase the Chrome lead to a score of 10-6 with 6:39 left in the quarter.
  • With 5:22 left in the quarter Whipsnakes Connor Kirst gets a 30 second penalty for holding.
  • Chrome continue to cycle the ball around well while being a man up but are not able to find the back of the net at all on the power play.
  • Garrett Leadmon of the Whipsnakes scores to make it 10-7 Chrome with 4:18 left in the quarter.
  • I was very surprised that the Chrome did not challenge this call as it did not appear that the ball went across the goal line but the goal stands.
  • Will Manny makes a great pass to Ty Warner who is being covered but goes towards the goal and scores for the Whipsnakes to make it 10-8 with 1:56 left in the quarter.
  • The third quarter ends with both teams exchanging end to end rushes that were started by great breakout passes by their goalies and just not able to capitalize on the chances. We go to the 4th quarter with the Chrome holding a 10-8 lead over the Whipsnakes.
  • Chrome’s Logan Wisnauskas recieves a 1 minute penalty for unnecessary roughness 11 seconds into the quarter.
  • The Whipsnakes cycle the ball around in the Chrome’s end while a man up finishing with Tucker Dordevic finding Mike Chanenchuk who lets go a low shot that goes high and just inside the net to make the score 10-9 Chrome.
  • With 7:45 left in the quarter Whipsnakes player Michael Ehrhardt recieves a 1 minute penalty for an illegal body check. The play is reviewed and is determined that a 1 minute releasable penalty is justified for the hit.
  • Jackson Morrill finds Justin Anderson who puts the ball in the net for the Chrome while being a man up to make the score 11-9 Chrome with 7:23 left in the quarter.
  • This was Jackson’s 4th assist of the game and he had 0 turnovers as well.
  • Sam Handley of the Chrome recieves a 30 second penalty for offside with 1:27 left in the quarter.
  • Whipsnakes cycle the ball around while being a man up and Matt Rambo finds Keegan Khan who scores with 1:14 left in the quarter to bring the Whipsnakes to within 1.
  • Matt Rambo draws in the Chrome defenders which allows Tucker Dordevic to get open and Rambo feeds it to him and Tucker buries it to tie the game at 11 with 35 seconds left in the quarter.
  • Are we heading to another overtime game here today?
  • Cross Ferrera takes the ball in from the sidelines and charges towards the goal and he is rewarded with a goal with only 4.7 seconds left in the quarter to give the Chrome a 12-11 lead.
  • Whipsnakes try their hardest to tie it again but are unable to and the Chrome hold on to witn the game 12-11.

The two games on Sunday were different from the games on Saturday. The Saturday games had lots of highlight style goals and the Sunday games were more of a hard fought victory kind of game. This just shows the variety of games this league can put on over the weekend in the cities they visit.
